Virgin Mary of Pantanassa
The miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary of Pantanassa dates from the 17th century and is located in the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi. In religion, the word Pantanassa is used as one of the hundreds of names for the Virgin Mary, while the word itself means the queen of everything, the mistress of the universe.
Many miracles are attributed to the Pantanassa icon and one of them concerns a young man, who visited the Monastery wanting to worship. However, an invisible force threw him down and when he recovered his senses, he confessed that he had strayed from the path of the Lord, repented, and saved his soul.
